Deepkranti Mahila Farmer Producer Company Limited is based out here in Dhanora, which is a bit of a distance if you’re coming from the main town. Shri Alibhai Habibbha helps us keep things organized at his place. It’s a group of women who have always been part of the farming life in Chandrapur. We decided to register this because we wanted to have a proper name for what we do every day anyway. The village life is simple but it keeps you busy from morning until late evening. We grow our local crops and try to find ways to get them to the market without too much trouble. Sometimes we struggle with the logistics or the paperwork, but that’s just part of it. We are not experts in business, we are experts in the land. When we gather at the site in Dhanora, it’s mostly to talk about what’s growing well and what isn't. The weather in Maharashtra can be tricky, so having a group helps when things get tough. We don't have a big mission statement. We just want to keep the farms running and make sure the work we do pays off enough to keep going. It’s honest work and we don’t pretend it’s anything else. Most of us have known each other since we were born, so there’s a lot of trust involved here.
