You can find us at Shri Devrao Krishnaji Narde’s place in Bhadrawati. It’s a familiar spot for most people in this area. We are the Bhadravati Farmer Producer Companylimited. We decided to use this name because we are proud of our town and the farmers who live here. This isn’t a high-rise office building. It’s a local place where we store some of our supplies and keep our account books. The walls are a bit dusty and there is always a motorcycle parked out front. We spend a lot of our time discussing the monsoon and which crops might do better this year. Most of us grew up on these farms, so we know the challenges firsthand. We aren't here to give sales pitches. We are just here to work together. When one of us finds a better way to get seeds or a better buyer for the cotton or grain, we share that with the rest. It is a simple way of doing business, but it’s the only way that makes sense to us. Sometimes the days are very long, especially when we have to coordinate transport for the whole group. We just take it one day at a time. If you walk in, you’ll probably find a few of us sitting around a wooden table drinking tea and looking at market rates on our phones. We keep some extra chairs in the corner for whenever a neighbor wants to sit and talk.
