Kuma Stainless Tubes Ltd

We are based out in Chakan, which everyone knows is the big industrial hub near Pune. Kuma Stainless Tubes is a factory where we make exactly what the name says. It is a hot place to work because of the machines and the welding, but that is the nature of making tubes. We have these long lines of stainless steel being shaped and cut all day long. The sound of the factory is something you get used to after a week or two. We have a lot of workers who come in from the nearby villages. Chakan has grown so much lately, and the traffic is a nightmare, but we are right in the middle of it. We don't have a fancy front office with a receptionist. You just walk in and find someone on the floor. We focus on the tubes, making sure the thickness is right and the polish is okay. It is a lot of heavy lifting and making sure the trucks are loaded properly before they head out on the highway. We don't really have a big philosophy. We just have orders to fill and machines to maintain. Some days are better than others, especially when the weather is cool. We just keep the production moving as best as we can. It’s a dirty job sometimes, but someone has to make the steel. We are just glad to have the work.
