Rama Art Gallery

Our place, Rama Art Gallery, is right in the middle of the Main Bazar in Pahar Ganj, at Ramsons 1550-A. If you know the area, you know it’s always crowded and there’s a lot of energy. We’ve been here for a long time, watching the shops around us change and the tourists come and go. The space inside is packed from floor to ceiling. Sometimes it feels like there isn't enough room to turn around, especially when a new shipment arrives. We have art and various pieces tucked into every corner. It’s dusty, and the lighting isn't the best, but that’s just how it is in these older buildings in the bazar. My father used to run things, and I’ve been helping out since I was a kid. There’s no formal structure here; we just open the doors in the morning and see what the day brings. Most of the time we’re busy wrapping things in newspaper and bubble wrap to make sure they don’t break. We drink a lot of tea and talk to the neighbors while we work. The street noise is constant—horns, people shouting, music—but after a while, you don't even hear it anymore. It’s a humble setup, nothing like those polished galleries you see in the newer parts of the city. We just like what we do and we’ve been doing it this way for decades without needing to change much or act like something we're not.
