You can find Prem Metal Co down in Anand Parbat, Gali No 4/G. Our specific spot is AA/7-C. It’s one of those narrow streets where you have to move your legs if a cart is passing by. We deal with metal all day long. It’s heavy, it’s cold in the winter, and it’s burning hot in the summer. We’ve got stacks of material everywhere. Sometimes it’s hard to find a place to sit down and have a glass of water. We don’t have a big team, just a few of us who know the trade. We spend a lot of time weighing things and sorting through different types of scraps or sheets. It’s not a clean job. Our hands are usually dirty by ten in the morning. We don’t mind it much because it’s what we know. The neighbors are all doing similar work, so there’s a lot of shouting across the lane to borrow a tool or ask a question. We’ve been at this address for a long time and the building shows its age. There’s a leaky pipe sometimes and the door squeaks, but it doesn’t stop the work. We just keep track of the metal coming in and going out. It’s straightforward. No one comes here for the scenery; they come because they need metal. We just do our part. It is a lot of grinding and lifting, but that is just the way we have always done things here. We just stay busy until it is time to go.
