You can find Gupta Metals over on Charandass Street in Nabi Karim. The address is 3749/2. If you’ve ever been to this part of Delhi, you know it’s crowded and narrow, and there’s always something happening. We’ve been in this spot for years, surrounded by other shops and warehouses. It’s a bit of a maze back here, but we like it. We deal in all sorts of metal. Some days it’s just small orders for local guys, and other days we’re trying to move larger quantities through these tight streets. It’s a lot of physical work, lifting and moving things around. Our clothes usually have a bit of grease or dust on them by the end of the shift. We don’t have a website or anything like that; we just talk to people face-to-face. That’s how business is done around here. If someone needs a certain pipe or sheet, they come by and we see what we’ve got in the back. Sometimes we have it, sometimes we have to tell them to come back tomorrow. It’s what we do for a living. We don’t try to act like we’re more than we are. Just a local shop in a busy market trying to keep the customers satisfied and the bills paid. It's noisy and loud, and there is never enough space for everything we want to keep in stock, but it feels like home to us. We just keep the doors open and see what the day brings.
