Karol Bagh is always a bit of a mess with the traffic and the noise, but we like it here. Our shop is at 8-Beadon Pura, right on Ajmal Khan Road. We have watched the roads change and the old shops turn into big buildings over the years, but we just stayed in our spot. My father used to tell me how much quieter it was when he was young. Now, it is just non-stop horns and people walking past the windows all day. We keep the place open until late because that is when most of the crowd shows up to look at things. It is not a big fancy place, just a regular shop where we keep our jewelry in glass cases. Sometimes the air conditioner makes a weird rattling noise when it's too hot outside, but it keeps us cool enough. We talk to the other shop owners a lot. Everyone knows everyone else on this stretch of the road. We don't have a huge team, just a few of us who have worked here for years. We handle the gold and the stones just like we were taught by the elders. It is mostly about being honest with the people who walk in so they come back when they need something else. We don’t use shiny brochures or anything. We just show the jewelry and tell them the price. We usually eat our lunch in the small back room.
