Junkyard Cafe

We are located in the Munsilal Building, which is part of the Outer Circle in Connaught Place. Being on the second floor, you have to walk up the stairs to get to us. Connaught Place is always a bit of a madhouse with all the shoppers and people going to work, so once people get up to Junkyard Cafe, they usually stay for a while. The place is decorated with a lot of old parts and reused stuff, which fits the name, but we don’t treat it like a museum. It’s just the vibe we have. We spend a lot of time moving furniture around and making sure the sound system is working right. The staff here is pretty relaxed, mostly just young people who like being in the center of Delhi. We don't have a fancy mission statement. We just open the doors and let the day happen. Sometimes it gets really loud, and other times it’s just the hum of the air conditioner. We have to deal with the typical Delhi stuff, like the heat and the crowds, but we’ve got a good routine down. We prep the bar, check the kitchen, and make sure the floors are mopped before the evening rush starts. It’s a lot of manual work that most people don’t see. We are just a bunch of people running a cafe in a big city.
