New Bombay Fittings

You can find New Bombay Fittings over in Nabi Karim at B.B.278. It’s a narrow street and it’s always busy with people and wooden carts moving around. We sell all kinds of hardware and small fittings. If you’re looking for a specific bolt or a door handle, we probably have it buried somewhere in a drawer or a box. The shop is small and the walls are covered in racks from top to bottom. I’ve been working here since I was a young man. It’s a lot of manual work, counting out individual pieces and bagging them up for the customers. We get a lot of local contractors and handymen coming in. They usually know exactly what they want, so we don't spend much time chatting about things. It’s dusty work because of all the metal and wood pieces we handle. I use an old ledger book to keep track of the daily sales. I never really got into using a computer for the shop. My fingers are usually a bit dirty from handling the iron and brass stock. We don't have a big window display or anything like that. Just the open door and the counters where we stand. Sometimes it’s hard to hear anything over the noise from the street, but we manage. People come to us because they know we have the odd parts that the bigger stores don't bother with. It’s just a regular hardware spot in a crowded part of town.
