Jute Wala Enterprises

Jute Wala Enterprises is based at 7263, Street No.2, in Aram Nagar, Pahar Ganj. It’s a bit of a walk from the main station, but it’s quieter here. We deal with jute bags and other things made of the same material. The smell of jute is something you never really get out of your clothes, but you get used to it after a week or two. The shop is in a narrow lane, so when the delivery rickshaws come, everything else has to stop. We spend a lot of our time just checking the stitching on the bags and making sure the bundles are tied up right. It’s dusty work, and the floors are always covered in little brown fibers that are impossible to sweep up completely. We don't have a big sign or anything fancy like that. People usually find us through word of mouth or if they’re just wandering through the lanes of Pahar Ganj looking for something specific. Most days it’s just me and a couple of guys helping out with the heavy lifting. We have a small stove in the corner for making tea, which is pretty much the most important thing in the shop. It’s a simple way to make a living, and we’ve been doing it this way for as long as I can remember now.
