We’ve been here in Anand Parbat Industrial Area for a good long time now. Gali 7 is always busy with trucks and people moving things around. Our unit at A/43 is usually quite loud from the moment we open the shutters in the morning. It’s mostly metal work we do here, lots of welding and cutting iron into whatever shape someone needs. Sometimes people come in with a proper drawing and other times they just show us a picture on their phone of a gate or a window grill they like. We try to get the measurements right the first time so there’s no fuss later. The floor is usually covered in scrap pieces and the smell of hot metal is just part of life here. My brother and a couple of other guys handle the heavy stuff. It gets really hot in the summer, but we keep the fans going and just get on with it. We don't have a fancy showroom or anything like that. People just know where we are and stop by when they need something made out of iron. It’s hard work and your hands are always black by the end of the shift. We’ve seen the neighborhood change a lot over the years, more shops opening up and the traffic getting worse, but the work stays the same. Just cutting, bending, and joining iron pieces until the job is done for the day.
