Our place is in Paharganj at Shop No 10578/44, inside Shankar Gali No 2 in the Motia Khan area. This part of Delhi is famous for metal work, and we are right in the middle of it. The lane is quite narrow, so getting large pieces of metal in and out can be a real struggle sometimes. We have been working with different types of metals for a long time. The shop is full of scrap, tools, and heavy sheets that lean against the walls. It’s a dusty job and our clothes are usually stained by the end of the day. There’s a specific sound of metal hitting metal that defines our entire workday. We don’t have a fancy showroom. If you come to see us, you’ll likely find us sitting on small stools surrounded by inventory. We drink a lot of tea to keep going, especially during the winter when the metal feels freezing to the touch. In the summer, the heat in this narrow alley is something else entirely. We mostly deal with other business owners and contractors who know exactly what they need. We don't do much talking; we just weigh the material, handle the payments, and help load the rickshaws. It’s a very old-school way of doing business, but it’s how things have always worked in Motia Khan. We just try to be fair and keep our stock moving.
