Karol Bagh is always a bit much, especially around Gurudwara Road where the traffic never seems to stop. We are tucked away in the Gold Plaza Building, specifically at 103-A. If you’ve ever walked around here, you know it’s a lot of people and noise. Inside the shop, it’s a bit quieter though. Hira Lal Jawahar Lal Jeweller has been operating out of this spot for a long time. We have these old glass counters and the lighting is that bright kind you need to see everything clearly. Sometimes the air conditioning struggles a bit when it gets really hot outside in the summer, but we manage. My grandfather started things off and we just kept it going. We don't have a big marketing team or anything like that. It’s mostly just family and a couple of people who have worked with us for decades. We spend our mornings cleaning the glass and checking the stock. People come in looking for something for a wedding or just a small gift, and we show them what we have in the safes. It’s a lot of sitting and talking with folks. You get to know the regulars pretty well after a few years. The Gold Plaza has its own rhythm, with the other shopkeepers always popping in for a chat or to share some tea. It's just a regular life here in the middle of the busy city.
