Fashion Trend India

Our place is in the basement at 16/32 in Old Rajendra Nagar. Fashion Trend India is what we call it. It’s a bit tucked away so people sometimes miss the entrance if they aren't looking for the sign. Being in a basement means we don't get much sunlight, so we have to keep the tube lights on all day long. It gets a bit stuffy down here when the sewing machines are all running, but we have a small exhaust fan that helps. We have racks and racks of clothes everywhere. Sometimes it is hard to walk between the aisles because we have so much fabric stored. We do a lot of the cutting and stitching right here on the big wooden tables. It’s not a fancy showroom. We mostly focus on getting the clothes made and sent out to the shops that buy from us. My aunt started this years ago and we just kept it going. We hire a few people from the neighborhood to help with the embroidery and the buttons. It’s a lot of repetitive work but we like seeing the finished outfits. The stairs leading down are a bit steep so you have to be careful when you're carrying heavy bundles of cloth. It’s a quiet enough spot once you're inside. We usually have the radio playing in the background to keep the mood light while we work. It helps when we have a lot of orders to finish by the weekend.
