Dauji Aalu Bhandar is at 101-102, Ravinder Plaza, on Abdul Aziz Road in Karol Bagh. Dealing with potatoes is not the cleanest job in the world. We are surrounded by sacks and crates from the moment we open up. The mud from the fields ends up all over the floor, no matter how much we sweep. It’s a very early start for us. The trucks come in when it’s still dark, and we have to get everything unloaded and sorted before the main traffic starts on Abdul Aziz Road. If you’re late, the whole street gets blocked and everyone starts shouting. It’s a loud, busy place to be. We don't have any fancy decorations because there’s just no point. The space is for storage and for moving goods as fast as we can. My hands are usually stained with dirt by nine in the morning, but that’s just part of the trade. We deal with farmers and other sellers, and there’s a lot of haggling that goes on. It can be tiring, but it’s what we know how to do. We don't have a website or anything like that. People just know where Ravinder Plaza is and they come find us when they need a bulk load. It’s hard work, but it’s honest and it keeps us busy.
