Paharganj is a pretty intense place to work, with all the narrow lanes and the constant movement of goods on carts. We’ve been operating out of this spot for years, focusing on steel work. The shop is always loud with the sound of metal being moved or cut, and there’s usually a thin layer of dust on everything. It’s a tight squeeze in the lane, so getting large deliveries in can be a real headache sometimes. We have to time it just right or we end up blocking the whole path. The neighbors are all doing similar industrial stuff, so we all know each other and help out when someone’s machine breaks down. It’s not the kind of place where you’d find a clean office; it’s a working shop through and through. We eat our lunch sitting on whatever crates are empty at the time. The summer heat in Delhi makes the metal parts hot to the touch, so we have to be careful with that. We don't have a big website or a marketing person. Most people just find us by walking through the gali or because they’ve been coming here for a decade. It’s just a honest way to spend the day, working with steel in a crowded corner of the city.
