Meraman Salt Works

We are located at Plot No. 39 in the Swaminarayan Building, which is over in Sector 9. Salt is the main focus of everything we do here. Our office isn't anything special to look at; it is just a room where we can sit and handle the business side of the salt works. We have desks covered in papers and a few chairs for visitors, though we don't get many people just dropping by. Most of our work is done over the phone or by visiting the sites where the salt is actually harvested. We deal with the logistics of getting the salt from the earth into the bags and then onto the trucks. It’s a process that involves a lot of waiting and a lot of phone calls. The office can get a bit dusty, and there is always a slight smell of the sea in the air if the wind is blowing the right way. We don't have a fancy website or any corporate brochures. We just rely on the fact that we’ve been doing this for a long time and people in the trade know who we are. Some days are slow and we just sit around and drink tea, while other days are chaotic with everyone shouting over the phones. It’s not a glamorous business, but it’s steady and it’s what we know. We just focus on getting the salt moved and the paperwork finished every day.
