Pranami Flour Mill

Being located in the Chitra Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation area means we are surrounded by all sorts of factories. Our mill is at Plot No. 812, right across from Shreeji Bakery. You can usually smell the bread baking while we are grinding the wheat. It’s a busy spot with lots of trucks moving in and out of the GIDC. We’ve got the Rajwadi Dairy nearby too. The shop is usually covered in a thin layer of flour, no matter how much we clean. It’s just the nature of the business. We have a couple of large grinders that run almost all day. The noise is quite something, so we wear earplugs sometimes. People from the surrounding villages and the industrial colony bring their grain to us. We don't have a fancy waiting room, just some space near the door where the sacks are piled up. It gets quite warm inside during the afternoons. We’ve been here for a good while, seeing the industrial estate grow and change. We keep the machines running and the customers happy by just doing what we say we will. There’s no marketing team here, just us and the machines. We focus on the texture of the flour because that’s what mothers and wives care about when they are making rotis. It's simple, honest work that fills a gap in the community. Sometimes the power goes out, and we just sit outside and wait for it.
