Our group is based in House Number 111 over in Asawar, which is in the Ghazipur area. We are a collection of local farmers who decided a while back that we should probably stick together if we want to get anything done. Ghazipur is the kind of place where you have to work for every single thing you get, and the soil here is what provides for our families. We don’t have a big corporate office or a lobby; we just use the house in Asawar to keep our notebooks and records in order. Most of the time, the place is empty because we are all out in the fields or moving bags of grain around. We talk about the rain, how much seeds are costing these days, and how the local markets are looking. It isn’t a polished business with a lot of people in suits. It is just us, the same people who are doing the actual planting and the heavy lifting. We formed this company to help with the welfare of the farmers around here, but we do it in a very simple, direct way. If a neighbor needs help, they usually get it. We pool what we have so we can buy supplies in bulk and maybe save a few rupees here and there. It is a lot of small steps, but we hope it makes life a little better for the village. We aren't corporate people.
