Pindara Farmers Producer Company Limited

Our office is located in Nandpur, which is part of the Pindara area in Varanasi. We are at house number 25, near Dhanai Ram’s place in the Baragaon area. It’s a local setup for the farmers around here. We basically got together because it’s hard for one person to sell their produce or buy seeds at a good price on their own. By being a producer company, we can do things as a group. Our office isn't much to look at, just a simple room where we keep the books and meet once or twice a week. You can usually find a couple of us sitting there talking about the price of grain or who needs help with their irrigation. It's a very hands-on kind of place. We don't use a lot of fancy words or have big meetings. We just talk about what needs to be done for the next season. Being in Nandpur, we are right in the middle of the community, so people can just walk over if they have an issue. Sometimes we have to travel out to the further fields to see how the crops are coming along. It's dusty and the roads aren't always great, but that's just how it is here. We like it this way because we stay close to the land and the people who work it. It’s about making sure everyone gets a fair deal at the end of the day when the harvest is in.
