Kotwananpara Farmer Producer Company Limited

Up here in Bahraich, near Nanpara, the farming life is all we really have. We’ve got our base set up with Ankur Pd Verma, which has become a bit of a hub for the local guys. It started because we were all facing the same problems with getting our crops sold. Being isolated out here makes it hard to know what’s happening in the bigger markets. We thought if we registered ourselves as a producer company, we could pool our resources. It’s been a learning process for all of us. Most of us are more comfortable with a plow than a pen, but we’re getting the hang of it. The weather in this part of Uttar Pradesh can be a real headache, either too much water or not enough. We spend a lot of time just talking about how to handle the next season. There’s no big fancy building with our name on it, just the local office where we keep our records and meet up. It is a very practical setup. We focus on the things that actually matter to a farmer, like getting the right supplies and making sure the transport actually shows up on time. It is tough work and the days are long, but doing it together makes it feel a bit more manageable. We are just a group of neighbors trying to make a living off the land here.
