Vivek 'S Ice Parlour

Vivek 'S Ice Parlour is tucked away on Lady Jehangir Road, right in the Parsee Colony of Dadar East 40, though we also have roots near Ulsoor. The shop is small, really small. Most people end up standing on the sidewalk to eat their treats because there just isn't enough room inside for more than a couple of benches. It gets sticky in the summer, obviously. We spend a lot of time cleaning the glass on the freezers because kids are always putting their hands all over it to see what’s inside. The flavors we have are the ones we’ve always had. We don't really do those weird modern things you see in the malls. It’s just ice cream. The light inside is a bit bright and yellow, and the floor is tiled in a way that’s hard to keep looking clean, but we try our best. On Sundays, the whole street is full of families out for a walk. It can get pretty chaotic with everyone trying to order at once. Sometimes the freezer makes a loud humming noise that we’ve just gotten used to over the years. My cousin helps out behind the counter when it’s busy, and my uncle usually sits in the back checking the books. It’s a family thing, mostly. We’ve been here at number 40 for a long time and the neighbors all know us by name now.
