Veda Art Gallery

Our gallery is at 1 Kumara Park West, right on Dr Ambedkar Road in the Palace View Building. We are easy to spot because we are opposite Corporation Bank and right next to the BDA. It’s a nice enough building, though it’s been there for a while. Inside, we have art pieces hanging on the walls and some standing on the floor. It’s not like those quiet, cold museums. We usually have the radio playing softly or we are just talking to people who wander in. Some people come in just to look, and that’s fine with us. We spend a lot of time cleaning the glass frames and moving the lights around to make everything look okay. My desk is tucked in the back, usually covered with catalogs and pens. We don't have a big corporate structure. It’s just a few of us who enjoy being around art. Sometimes we have to unpack new arrivals, which means there are crates and bubble wrap all over the floor for a few hours. It can get a bit cluttered. The street outside is always busy, but inside it’s a bit more relaxed. We don't use fancy words to describe the paintings. If someone likes a piece, they like it. We help them figure out how to get it home safely. It’s a simple business, really. We’ve been in this Kumara Park spot for a while now and we like the neighborhood vibe.
