About Shrusti Art Gallery – Art & Craft in Bengaluru
Shrusti Art Gallery is over at Malleshwaram 334. It’s a quiet spot compared to the rest of the street. We have these big windows that let in the afternoon sun, which is nice for looking at the paintings but makes the room get a bit warm. I spend a lot of my time just walking around and making sure the frames are straight. The walls are plain white so they don't take away from the art. We don’t have a lot of staff, usually just me or one other person here to open the doors in the morning. People walk in from the sidewalk, sometimes just to get out of the rain or the sun for a minute. We don't mind. It’s good to have company. We change the things on the walls every few weeks when something new comes in. Some of the floors creak when you walk over the wooden parts near the back. We have a small desk in the corner where we keep the guest book and a few pens. It’s not a fancy place with velvet ropes or anything like that. We just want a place where the local artists can put their work and people can see it without feeling pressured. Sometimes we sit out front on the step when it's slow and watch the people go by. It’s a peaceful way to spend the day in Malleshwaram. We just keep things simple and let the art speak for itself.
