About Mahua The Art Gallery – Art & Craft in Bengaluru
Over at Sadashivnagar Vishweshwar Nagar, Aarey Road 344/8, we keep the doors open at Mahua The Art Gallery. It’s a quiet space mostly, which is how we like it. The walls are usually covered in whatever we’ve brought in lately. Some of it is pretty modern, and some of it is more traditional, but we don't really judge. We just hang the frames where they fit and hope they look straight. We spend a lot of time moving things around to make room for new pieces coming in from different artists. Sometimes the lighting is a bit tricky to get right, especially when the sun moves across the big windows in the late afternoon. We usually have some tea going in the back if it's a slow morning. People wander in, look around for ten minutes, and leave, or sometimes they stay for an hour just staring at one corner. It’s interesting to see what people like. The floor gets a bit dusty with all the foot traffic, so we’re always sweeping up. It’s not a big museum, just a small gallery where we try to show what local folks are making. We’ve been here a bit and the neighbors know us. It’s a job that keeps us busy with crates and bubble wrap most of the time. We just want to make sure the art is up there for whoever wants to see it.
