About The Lewis Foundation Of Classical Ballet – Art & Craft in Bengaluru
We are located right on 11th Cross in Indira Nagar 1st Stage. It's a wooden floor kind of place. Most of the time you’ll hear music playing from the street if the windows are open during the rehearsals. We teach classical ballet to whoever wants to learn. There are kids running around in leotards and adults trying to remember their basic foot positions. It’s hard work, honestly. People think ballet is just about floating around, but it’s mostly about sore feet and repeating the same movement a hundred times until it's right. We’ve been at number 37 for quite a while now. The studio gets a lot of nice light in the afternoons. Sometimes the traffic outside is loud, but we’ve all gotten used to it over the years. We aren't a big fancy gym; it's just a dedicated space for dance and practice. The mirrors take a lot of cleaning because of all the handprints from the younger classes. We spend our days fixing postures and making sure the music starts on exactly the right beat for the dancers. It's a steady routine. People come here after school or after they finish their jobs in the city. We see a lot of familiar faces every week. It feels like a small community here in this part of Indira Nagar. No one is trying to be a superstar; we just want to get the steps right and stay in time. It’s a bit of a workout, but it keeps everyone active.
