Teju Fruits is our little place located at Vijaya Nagar 7th Cross on the 10th Main. The shop number is 1134. We’ve been here for a good number of years now, serving the families who live in the surrounding streets. It is mostly a one-man show, though sometimes my nephew comes to help out when he is not busy at school. We stock whatever is in season, so the shop looks different every few months. Right now, there are a lot of watermelons and papayas taking up space on the floor. It can get a bit cramped inside when we have too much stock delivered at once. We don't have fancy lights or displays, just simple wooden crates and some old scales that still work fine. The neighborhood is usually quite busy in the evenings when people are coming home from work and stop by to pick up something for dessert or breakfast the next morning. We know which customers like their fruit a bit ripe and who wants them firm. We don't do any big advertising or anything like that; word of mouth has always been enough for us to keep going. Sometimes the crates are heavy and my back aches by the end of the day, but seeing the familiar faces every day makes it worth it. It is just a regular life running a fruit shop in a busy part of the city. We keep the shop open until the last customer leaves and then we head home.
