About Sri Rama Lalitha Kala Mandira – Art & Craft in Bengaluru
We are located in Banashankari 2nd Stage, right on Jakkur Main Road at number 9. This isn't a shop or a noisy commercial office, but a quiet place for music and the arts. Most days of the week, you can hear the faint sound of the veena or someone practicing their classical singing coming from the different rooms. It’s a bit of an old building, but it has a very good feel to it for learning. We have simple mats on the floor and some framed pictures of famous musicians on the walls. Students come here after their school day is over, carrying their instrument bags and looking a bit tired but they are ready to practice. The neighborhood is quite busy with people going to the local market or visiting the temple nearby. We spend a lot of our time organizing the class timings and making sure all the instruments are kept safe and in good condition. It’s not a big corporate school, just a local place where we really value the traditional way of doing things. Sometimes the younger kids can be a little bit noisy in the hallway, and we have to remind them to be quiet while a music class is going on in the next room. The lighting isn't always the brightest in the back rooms, but nobody seems to mind it much. We’ve been part of this Banashankari community for a long time now. It’s just a simple space.
