Sri Lakshmi Venkateshwara & Vegetables

Sri Lakshmi Venkateshwara & Vegetables is situated at number 91 on Hoodi Main Road. This area of Ayyappa Nagar is always full of traffic and people moving around. We get our vegetables early in the morning when it is still dark outside. Sorting through the greens and the sacks of potatoes takes up most of our early hours. The shop at 91 Hoodi Main Road is basically just a big open space to keep the produce fresh. We don't have air conditioning so we rely on the breeze coming through the front. Sometimes the Hoodi Main Road noise makes it hard to hear but we are used to it by now. The floor often has a few stray leaves or bits of dirt because that is just how it is when you work with vegetables. We spend a lot of time weighing things out and putting them into bags for the customers. Ayyappa Nagar is a good place to be because there are always families walking around. We try to keep things simple and just focus on what is on the tables. Our hands usually smell like coriander or earth by the end of the shift. It is a very practical way to make a living and we don't try to make it look like something it isn't. It is just a local vegetable stall that has been here for a while.
