Siraj Vegetables

The day starts very early for us here at Shivaji Nagar. While most of the city is still asleep, we are already down at the market near Gujarat Gas Circle picking out what looks good for the day. Siraj Vegetables has been at 41400 for a while, and it’s a spot where the bins are always full of whatever is in season. We spend a lot of our time sorting through crates of tomatoes, green chilies, and leafy greens. It’s a lot of lifting and moving things around to make sure the best stuff is at the front. The floor is often wet from washing the carrots or just the general humidity of the produce. Our customers are mostly neighbors who have been buying from us for years. They know exactly when the fresh stock arrives. We don't do anything fancy with packaging, usually just old newspapers or plastic bags. It’s a noisy corner of the street, especially in the mornings when everyone is trying to get their shopping done before work. Sometimes we run out of something popular by noon, and that’s just how it goes. The work is constant, from cleaning the stalls to weighing out onions for the next person in line. It’s a simple business but it keeps us on our feet all day long. We don't have a website or anything like that, just the shop and the people who walk in.
