About Singh Sweets – Food & Beverages in Bengaluru
Singh Sweets is located at number 94 in the Subhanpura area of Yeshwantpur. It’s a local spot that has been around for a good amount of time. The shop is filled with glass cases where we put the different sweets we make every day. You can smell the sugar and the ghee from the sidewalk before you even walk in. We don’t have fancy decorations or anything, just some bright lights and a few fans to keep the air moving. It gets very crowded during the festivals, and then it’s just a lot of shouting and people pushing to get their boxes filled. I’ve worked here since I was a teenager, and now I mostly just manage the counter while the workers stay in the kitchen at the back. The back room is always much hotter than the front because of the big vats of milk boiling. We use these old metal trays that have some dents in them, but they still work fine. Sometimes the delivery truck blocks the road when it comes, and the neighbors get a bit annoyed. Yeshwantpur is always a bit chaotic anyway, so a little more noise doesn't hurt much. We try to keep things organized, but when twenty people come in at once, the system usually falls apart. It’s just a regular sweet shop doing things the old way without any of those modern machines or frozen ingredients. I usually go home with sugar on my shirt every single night.
