Working at Shiva Provision Store near the Begur Cross Junction means you get used to the sound of horns and trucks very quickly. We are right there at 457/85 on Hosur Main Road in Bommanahalli. It’s a loud spot. Every morning starts the same way with the milk delivery coming in early while it’s still a bit dark out. We have to move the crates inside before the traffic really starts to build up on the main road. The shelves are always packed with different things people need, like soap, lentils, and packets of biscuits. It’s a tight squeeze in here sometimes when three or four people are all trying to buy things at once. We don't have fancy lights or air conditioning. Just some fans that rattle a bit when they are on high. Most of the folks who come in are living nearby or just passing through the junction on their way to work. We spend a lot of our time checking the stock and making sure we haven't run out of the basics. Sometimes the deliveries are late because of the traffic jams outside, which is frustrating but we just deal with it. It’s a plain, honest business. Nothing too special to look at from the outside, just a blue board and some stacks of goods near the door. We stay open late because people always forget something they need for dinner. The floor tiles are a bit cracked near the counter where people stand, but nobody seems to mind much as long as they get what they need quickly.
