Samkrut Art School

We have been here in Jayanagar 429/28 for a while now. It is just a space where people come to paint and draw. Most days it is pretty quiet, just the sound of pencils scratching or brushes hitting the water jars. We did not start this to be some big academy or anything. It was more about having a spot in the neighborhood where someone could sit down and actually finish a sketch without getting distracted by their phone or chores. The tables are a bit stained with ink and paint from over the years, but that is how an art room should look, I think. People of all ages drop by. Some are really good, others just want to see if they can draw a straight line. We do not judge anyone. It is not about making a masterpiece every time you walk through the door. Sometimes you just mess up a whole sheet of paper and have to start over. That is just how it goes with art. The light in the afternoons is quite nice here. It hits the back wall where we pin up some of the stuff people have worked on lately. If you are walking around Jayanagar and want to see what we are doing, you can just peek in. There is usually someone around to show you where the charcoal is kept. We keep things pretty simple. No fancy equipment, just the basics that get the job done.
