Open the shop around 8 AM. Sometimes the key sticks in the lock. S L V T Provision Store is just a small spot here at 541/B Benson Cross Road in Vijaya Nagar. Most days it’s just the usual crowd coming in for their daily things. We spend a lot of time just moving boxes around and making sure the jars are lined up halfway decent. It’s not fancy. The floor needs a sweep pretty often because of the dust from the road. People come in and ask for things we ran out of, then we have to write it down on a piece of paper so we don't forget to get more tomorrow. The fan overhead makes a bit of a clicking noise, but it keeps the air moving. We’ve been in this part of Vijaya Nagar for a bit now. You get to know the faces, like the lady who always wants the freshest packets or the kids who count out their coins for sweets. Sometimes it gets a bit quiet in the afternoon when the sun is really hitting the front of the shop. That’s when we usually sit on the stool and just wait for the evening rush. It’s a lot of standing and lifting, but that’s just how it is. We try to keep things organized but sometimes the stock just piles up in the back and it takes a while to sort through. It is just a basic shop for the neighborhood.
