About Roshan Sweets – Food & Beverages in Bengaluru
Roshan Sweets has been sitting here at 151 Laxmi Road for as long as I can remember. Shivaji Nagar is always busy, so there’s always dust and noise outside our door. Inside, it's mostly the smell of sugar and frying dough. We spend a lot of time standing over big pots, stirring milk until it gets thick. It’s hard work on the arms, but it’s what we know how to do. The glass cases are a bit old and maybe they have a few scratches, but they show off the trays well enough. We make the usual stuff—laddoos, barfi, and whatever else people ask for during the festivals. Sometimes the floor gets a bit sticky, but we try to mop it whenever there's a quiet minute. Customers come in and point at what they want, and we wrap it up in paper boxes. We don't use fancy ribbons or anything like that. It's just local sweets for the families living around here. My father used to do this, and now we do it. The lights flicker sometimes when the power acts up, but we have some candles ready just in case. It's a plain shop, nothing fancy to look at from the street. We just focus on getting the sugar right and making sure the milk doesn't burn. It’s a lot of work, but seeing people come back every week makes the long hours okay. We'll be here.
