Rasa Kalaa Galary

Rasa Kalaa Galary is located in Chamrajpet, specifically over at Banashankar 2nd Satge 93. It’s a quiet spot that we opened because we wanted a place to show the work being done around here. The gallery itself is just a couple of rooms with white walls that we try to keep clean, though they always seem to need a bit of touch-up paint after an exhibit. We don’t have a big staff, just us and occasionally a friend who helps out when we’re hanging a new show. It can be quite a job getting everything level and the lighting just right, especially with the old fixtures we have. Chamrajpet is a bit of an older neighborhood, and we like the feel of it. It’s not like those high-end galleries in the city center where you feel like you can't touch anything. We want people to feel okay walking in off the street, even if they aren't planning to buy anything. Sometimes we have tea in the back and just talk to whoever wanders in. The floors are a bit worn down from people walking through, and the front door sticks a little when it's humid outside. We just take it day by day, showing what we can and keeping the space open. It’s a lot of dusting and a lot of moving frames around, but it’s what we do here at number 93. It's a simple, local place for looking at art.
