Rajaratnalaya Arts Foundation

We are located at 478 in the JP Nagar area of Ellisbridge. This is where we keep the Rajaratnalaya Arts Foundation running. It’s a space filled with all sorts of things related to the arts—sometimes there are paintings drying, other times it is music or dance being discussed in the back rooms. We aren't a big institution with fancy galleries or shiny floors. Instead, we have a more modest setup where people who care about art can gather and talk. The building has been our home for a while now. Ellisbridge is a well-known part of the city, so finding us isn't too hard once you get into the JP Nagar streets. We spend our days organizing different activities and making sure everything is in place for whatever project we are working on at the moment. It can get a bit disorganized with art supplies and equipment lying around, but that is usually how it goes in a place like this. We have regular visitors who drop by just to see what is happening or to share an idea. The vibe is pretty low-key and we don't put on any airs about what we do. We just want to keep the local art scene going in our own small way. It’s a lot of manual work, moving things around and setting up spaces for people to use. Sometimes the power goes out or the roof needs a bit of a fix, but we stay focused. It’s a nice community to be a part of here in Ahmedabad.
