Ponnaiah Lalithakala Academy

Our academy is situated at Vishveshwaraiah Puram, over in Kalyani Nagar at number 429. Ponnaiah Lalithakala Academy is a place where there’s always some kind of music or dance going on. It isn't a silent office, that’s for sure. Most afternoons are filled with the sound of students practicing their steps or playing instruments. The floor is a bit worn from all the feet moving on it over the years, but we think that’s a good sign. We don't have a fancy lobby or a lot of bells and whistles. It’s just a space dedicated to the arts. We’ve seen a lot of kids grow up here, starting with simple rhythms and moving on to more complex stuff. Kalyani Nagar is a nice area, and we like being part of the local culture. Sometimes the schedule gets a bit messy when everyone wants to practice at the same time, but we sort it out. We don't do the whole corporate training thing. It’s more about the tradition and just putting in the hours. We talk to parents and students like neighbors because that’s what we are. There’s always a bit of chalk on the floor or a stray sitar string somewhere. It’s an honest place where people come because they want to learn something meaningful. We keep things simple and let the art be the main focus every single day.
