Nritya Sinchana Center For Dance Music

You can find us at number 50 on I O C Road in Basaveshwara Nagar. It’s a busy street, but our place is tucked in enough that it stays relatively focused on the work we do. We do both dance and music here, so there’s usually some kind of sound coming from the rooms throughout the day. It might be a drum or just someone counting out steps. We have a few different rooms, though none of them are particularly big or spacious. We’ve put in some basic soundproofing ourselves, but you can still hear what’s going on in the next room. It’s just the nature of this old building. We’ve been here for a while, and the neighborhood knows us well. We’re not a big chain or anything like that. It’s just a local center run by people who live nearby. We do our own cleaning and handle our own bookings on a messy calendar we keep on the wall. Sometimes we lose a pen or forget to write something down exactly right, but we always figure it out in the end. The floorboards creak a little in the corner, but it doesn't bother anyone who comes here. Most of the people who come here are kids from the nearby houses. We see them grow up over the years and it’s nice to have that connection with the local families. We don't put on any airs or act like we are something we aren't. We just provide a space for people to learn. It’s a lot of work, but it’s steady. We keep the doors open and the lights on.
