Natya Dharmi

You can find us at G-6 in Vimanapura. Natya Dharmi is just a small place we use for theatre and dance practice. It isn't a big institution with a lot of staff members. Usually, it’s just one or two of us around to open the doors and get things ready. The room we use is quite large but it’s a bit bare. We have some old chairs stacked in the corner and a few curtains we use for performances. Vimanapura is a decent area, and we like it here because it stays relatively quiet in the evenings. We don't have a big sign outside, so people sometimes get lost trying to find us the first time. The floor is just cement, which we’ve covered with some basic mats so it’s not too hard on the feet. We don’t have any air conditioning, so the windows stay open all year round. Sometimes the local kids peek through the window to see what we are doing. We aren't doing this to make a lot of money; we just like the art of it. We often stay late and have some snacks while we discuss our next play. It’s a very informal way of doing things. We don't have a formal registration process either. If someone wants to join, they just come by and start participating. It’s a simple, honest way to run a small group like ours.
