The day starts really early for us here at the Avalahalli location. The milk vans arrive before the sun is even up, and we have to get the crates inside quickly. Being on Kalkere Main Road means we get a lot of morning walkers and people heading to work. They stop by for their daily packets of milk or a cup of curd. It’s a small space, so we have to be efficient with how we stack the refrigerators. We also keep some sweets and ghee on the side shelves. The floor gets a bit wet from the ice and condensation, so we are always mopping it up. It’s a simple routine but it keeps us on our toes. Sometimes we run out of certain items by mid-morning, and we have to wait for the next delivery. The neighborhood is growing fast, so there are always new faces coming in. We recognize most of the regulars by their orders now. It’s nice to have a chat while we make change. There’s no fancy air conditioning here, just a fan and the cold air from the fridge units. We stay open until the evening when the last of the milk is gone. It is hard work staying on your feet all day, but that is how it goes. We don't really do any advertising; people just know we are here on the main road.
