Nandini Milk Parlour

If you walk past Anand Park on Iti Road in Kaggadasapura, you’ll see our little milk parlour. We open up really early, usually before the sun is even fully up, because that is when the milk van arrives. It’s a bit of a rush in those first few hours with everyone stopping by for their morning packets of milk or curd before they head off to work or take the kids to school. We spend a lot of time just moving crates around and making sure the refrigerators are running cold so nothing spoils. The shop isn't very big, so things can get a bit tight when more than three or four people are waiting at the counter. We also keep some sweets and butter in the glass case, and we have to wipe the condensation off it every few hours. It’s a simple routine that we’ve stuck to for a long time. Some days the delivery is late and we have to explain it to the regulars who are waiting, but mostly it runs like clockwork. We know most of the faces around Kaggadasapura since they come in every single morning. The floor gets a bit wet from the crates, and there is always that faint smell of dairy in the air, which we don't even notice anymore. It’s just a local spot where people get what they need for their breakfast and move on. We just stay focused on keeping things fresh.
