Nandini Ice Cream Plant

Opening the gates near the fire station every morning is how the day starts for us. The hum of the cooling units is the first thing we hear when we step inside the building. We have been at this spot in Sanjay Gandhi Nagar for quite a long time now. It is not a fancy place at all. It is just a plant where we keep everything cold and move things around. Sometimes the sirens from the fire station right nearby are incredibly loud, but we have gotten used to it over the years. The walls are a bit scuffed up from moving the heavy crates and equipment back and forth. We spend most of our working day checking the temperatures and making sure the inventory is exactly where it needs to be. It gets really hot outside in the afternoons, so being inside the plant is actually quite a relief for us. Neighbors walk by the gate and wave to us while we work. We just focus on the tasks at hand. There is always a lot to clean up at the end of a shift. The floor is usually pretty wet from washing down all the equipment. It is a simple life here. We do not have a big office or anything stylish, just a small desk in the corner piled with paperwork. The delivery drivers come and go all through the day. Sometimes the traffic on the main road makes things very slow, but we always manage to get things done eventually. That is just the way it is.
