Maya Art Gallery is located in the Jay Mahal Extension Charkop 73 area. It’s a quiet place, which is nice because it gives us time to look at the pieces we have on display. We don’t have hundreds of paintings, just a selection of things we’ve gathered over time. The walls are mostly white so the colors stand out more. We spend a lot of our time adjusting the lights or dusting the frames. It’s not a very big space, so we have to be careful about where we put things so people don’t bump into them. Sometimes artists come by to drop off new work and we spend time talking about where it should go. We don’t have a lot of visitors every day, mostly just local people who live nearby or someone who happened to be walking in the neighborhood. On some afternoons, it’s so quiet you can hear the birds outside clearly. We keep a small desk near the front where we do our paperwork and answer the phone. It’s a simple setup and we don't have any big fancy events or anything like that. We just like having the art around us and keeping the doors open for whoever wants to take a look. It’s a bit of a slow pace compared to the rest of the city, but that suits us just fine.
