Mangala Provision Store

I usually get here around seven in the morning to open up Mangala Provision Store. It is situated right at 1946 Shree Ramkrishna Society in Vijaya Nagar. The first thing is always dusting the glass jars and sweeping the front step. People from the society start coming by for milk and bread pretty early. Some days are quite slow, especially when it rains, so I just sit on the stool and look at the street. The shelves are packed with all sorts of things like dals, soaps, and those small snack packets kids like. Sometimes the delivery truck comes late and I have to wait around past my usual closing time. My family helps out too. It is not a very big place, just enough room for the essentials and a small counter. The light inside is a bit dim because the bulb flickers occasionally. I keep a ledger for the regular neighbors who pay at the end of the month. Vijaya Nagar is a busy area, but this corner of the society stays fairly quiet. I spend a lot of time organizing the biscuit packets so they don't fall over. Sometimes I listen to the radio or just chat with anyone who stops by for a minute. It is just a regular shop where we try to keep things in stock. Nothing fancy happens here, we just keep the doors open and wait for the next person to walk in. Anyway, it keeps me busy.
