We are tucked away at 2 Jayangar III Block, in the Raju Manaji Chawl area. It is a very local spot, and everyone around here knows everyone else. The space is small, but we make it work for what we do with arts and estate matters. Living and working in a chawl means you are never really alone; there is always someone walking by or a conversation happening right outside the door. We have some artwork leaning against the walls and a lot of folders filled with estate papers. It is a bit of a mix of things. The light isn't always the best, so we use a few extra lamps to see what we are doing. We keep a small stool outside for when we need a break and some fresh air. The neighborhood is lively, with the smells of cooking and the sound of radios coming from the other units. We don't have a receptionist or a lobby. You just walk in and talk to whoever is sitting at the table. It is a very humble setup. We spend our days answering questions for the neighbors or organizing the art pieces we have. It is a bit crowded with all the stuff we have collected over time, but we know where every single item is located. There is a certain rhythm to life in the chawl that you just get used to after a few weeks.
