Mahadeshwara Provision Stores

If you walk down Sampige Road in Malleswaram, you’ll find us at Mahadeshwara Provision Stores. It’s a busy street and we’ve seen it change a lot over the years. Our shop is usually packed with bags of rice, dals, and all the usual things people need for their kitchens. It’s not a supermarket where everything is under bright lights and plastic. We still do things the old way for the most part, weighing stuff out and talking to the customers while we work. Some of the people coming in have been shopping with us since they were kids. It gets pretty crowded in here on weekend mornings when everyone is out doing their shopping for the week. We try to keep everything in stock, but sometimes we run out of something popular and have to wait for the next delivery truck to navigate the Malleswaram traffic. The shelves are high and sometimes a bit disorganized, but we know where everything is. It’s a lot of lifting heavy sacks and sweeping up spilled grain at the end of the day. We don't have a big team, just a few of us who know the regulars by name. It’s a simple life, running a provision store. You get to hear all the local gossip and see the neighborhood grow. We just open up early, stay late if we have to, and make sure people get their groceries without having to pay too much or wait too long for help.
