M H N Fruits

M H N Fruits is located out in the Victoria Road Industrial Area B. It’s not exactly a shopping mall, just a practical space where we can keep our crates and handle the fruit. I’ve been working in this area for years. Most of our days start way before the sun comes up because that’s when the fresh fruit arrives from the markets. We have to sort through everything, see what’s good and what’s not. It’s a messy job sometimes, especially with things like mangoes or grapes that can get squashed easily. The warehouse is big enough for our needs, but it gets pretty cold in the winter and really hot in the summer. We don't have fancy displays or air conditioning. It's mostly just crates stacked on top of each other on the floor. Most of our customers are other small vendors or people who buy in larger quantities for events. We don't really deal with individual pieces of fruit much. It’s a lot of moving things around with trolleys and keeping track of what’s ripening too fast. I spend a lot of time on the phone, talking to growers and seeing what’s coming in next. The traffic on Victoria Road can be a nightmare, so we try to get our deliveries out early before the trucks clog everything up. It’s a tough business because things spoil fast, but we’ve managed to stay going for a while now.
