Our shop is tucked right behind the old Basant Cinema on Lalbagh Road. It’s a busy part of Lalbagh, especially in the evenings when the movie crowds start coming out. We’ve seen this neighborhood change quite a bit over the years. The street used to be much quieter, but now there’s traffic almost all the time. Being near the cinema means we get all sorts of people stopping in. Some are in a hurry to catch a show, while others just want to sit for a minute after a long day. We aren't a big corporate chain, just a local spot where you can get a scoop and relax. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but we spend most of our time making sure the freezers stay at the right temperature. It gets humid here, so keeping things frozen is the main job. We don’t have a big fancy menu with names you can’t pronounce. We stick to the basics that everyone knows. Sometimes my nephew helps out behind the counter when it gets crowded on the weekends. It’s a small space, so it gets a bit tight when more than five people are inside. We just focus on keeping the place clean and making sure nobody has to wait too long. It’s a simple life running a shop like this, but we enjoy the routine of it all and seeing the same neighbors come by.
