About Katta Venkatarathnam – Art & Craft in Bengaluru
I’m located over at 48 Rabrindranath Tagore Nagar, or RT Nagar as most of us call it. It’s a busy part of Bangalore, and there’s always something happening on the main roads. My space is tucked away a bit, which is nice because it gets a little less of the street noise. Katta Venkatarathnam is the name I use for the business, but it’s really just me and a couple of helpers most of the time. We don’t have a big corporate office with a lobby. It’s more of a functional area where we can sit down and focus. I’ve lived and worked in this area long enough to see it change quite a bit over the years. Some days the power goes out and we just sit and wait, maybe have some tea from the shop on the corner while we wait for the lights to come back on. It’s not a perfect setup, but it works for us. We handle a variety of things here, mostly involving local projects and helping out people in the community. I try to keep my desk organized, but usually, it ends up covered in notes and scraps of paper by noon. It’s a practical way of living and working. People know where to find me, and I’m usually around from the early morning until the sun goes down. I don't use a lot of fancy words to describe what I do; I just get to it and finish the task.
